About the Founder

Kev Kerr
I’m Kev Kerr, founder of The Midnight Assembly. My journey into the paranormal field began in 2010, driven by a fascination with the unexplained and a desire to better understand the stories, experiences and questions that continue to surround it. Over the years, that curiosity has grown into a thoughtful and grounded approach to investigation, research and conversation.

The Journey
Over the years, I've had the opportunity to investigate some remarkable locations, work alongside respected investigators and researchers, and explore the paranormal from many different perspectives.
My experience has ranged from investigating historic and reportedly haunted locations to conducting residential investigations, working directly with individuals and families seeking answers to unexplained experiences in their own homes.
In 2013, I founded ParaRationalise, a project dedicated to encouraging critical thinking, questioning established investigation methods and promoting a more ethical, evidence-based approach to paranormal research. Running until 2020, ParaRationalise combined public education and research with residential investigations, much of which remained confidential out of respect for those involved.
My journey has also included involvement with Gloucester Paranormal Research, Team IMPACT and ASSAP. I was also a co-founder of the UK Paranormal Society, serving as its original Vice Chair, contributing to the organisation's early development.
Building on those experiences, I went on to establish Kev Kerr Paranormal, bringing together my ongoing interests in investigation, research and the wider conversations surrounding unexplained phenomena.
I've also spoken at numerous events on paranormal investigation methods, ethics, research practices and the importance of approaching unexplained experiences with an open but critical mind.
Along the way, I've contributed to paranormal publications, appeared on podcasts and had the privilege of meeting and working with many fascinating people across the paranormal field, from experienced investigators and respected researchers to historians, authors and creators, each bringing their own knowledge, experiences and perspectives.
What I've come to appreciate most is that we don't always need to agree to learn from one another. Some of the most valuable conversations begin when we're willing to challenge our own understanding and consider a different perspective.

Why I Created The Midnight Assembly
After more than fifteen years involved in the paranormal, one thing has become increasingly clear to me: some of the most fascinating aspects of the unexplained aren't necessarily the experiences themselves, but the conversations, questions and different perspectives that surround them.
Throughout my journey, I've met people with vastly different approaches to the paranormal. Some dedicate their lives to scientific research, others explore its history, investigate reported activity or share deeply personal experiences. While their methods and beliefs may differ, they're often connected by the same curiosity.
I've always felt there was an opportunity to bring these different perspectives together in a way that encouraged genuine discussion, mutual respect and a willingness to challenge ideas, including our own.
That's where The Midnight Assembly began.
I wanted to create something that went beyond a traditional paranormal convention. An event where the conversations are just as important as the presentations, where attendees can engage with the people they admire, and where investigators, academics, authors, creators, sceptics and those simply curious about the unexplained all have something to contribute.
But I also wanted it to be an experience worth remembering. Somewhere people could spend a weekend discovering new ideas, meeting fascinating individuals, sharing a meal, enjoying an evening together and forming connections that continue long after the event ends.
The Midnight Assembly isn't about telling people what to believe or promising answers to questions we may never fully understand.
It's about creating the space to explore those questions together.
Because not every question has an answer, but every perspective deserves the opportunity to be heard.

The Vision
My ambition for The Midnight Assembly extends far beyond creating a successful paranormal convention. I want to build something that becomes a meaningful part of the UK's paranormal landscape, an event recognised not simply for the people on its stage, but for the conversations, connections and ideas it inspires.
I believe the paranormal is at its most interesting when different perspectives come together. Researchers, investigators, historians, academics, sceptics and enthusiasts all have something valuable to contribute, and I want the Assembly to provide an environment where those contributions are welcomed, explored and, when necessary, challenged.
My vision is to establish The Midnight Assembly as one of the UK's leading paranormal gatherings, combining thoughtful discussion and credible research with engaging entertainment, memorable experiences and genuine opportunities for people to connect.
But just as importantly, I want the Assembly to encourage collaboration beyond the event itself. If a conversation leads to a new investigation, a research partnership, a fresh perspective or simply a lasting friendship, then we've achieved something worthwhile.
As the Assembly grows, I hope to introduce new voices, explore subjects that don't always receive the attention they deserve, and continue finding ways to bring the wider paranormal world together.
Above all, I want to create an event where curiosity is encouraged, questions are welcomed and people leave feeling inspired to explore a little further.
The Midnight Assembly is built on three simple principles: curiosity, conversation and Discovery.
And my hope is that what begins as a weekend at Kelham Hall will grow into something that continues to bring people together for many years to come.

The Midnight Assembly represents the culmination of many years of experiences, conversations and a genuine passion for exploring the unexplained. Bringing it to life has been an exciting journey, and I'm incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported the idea and helped make it possible.
On 3rd and 4th April 2027, we'll open the doors of Kelham Hall for the very first Midnight Assembly, and I hope it will mark the beginning of something truly special.
Whether you're an experienced investigator, a respected researcher, a curious newcomer or someone who simply enjoys a good ghost story, I hope you'll find something here that challenges your thinking, sparks your curiosity or introduces you to people you might otherwise never have met.
Most importantly, I hope you'll feel part of what we're creating.
I look forward to welcoming you to Kelham Hall, sharing a few conversations and discovering where this journey takes us.
See you at The Midnight Assembly.
